The market study is in response to a community planning process, led by Greater Kansas City LISC, in partnership with Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association, Northeast Chamber of Commerce, Westside Housing Organization, and other community representatives. The purpose of the study is to gain an understanding of the market potential for new and existing retail and service business in the Business District and therefore help guide and inform commercial revitalization efforts. The market study includes four components:

1. Assessment of Existing Conditions, Commercial District Profile and Business Mix Analysis
2. Consumer Research (including a resident survey, visitor survey and survey of nearby university students and staff)
3. Analysis of Demographics, Market Demand and Sales Leakage
4. Suggested Strategies for Consideration. A summary of the findings and suggested strategies follows.
