Job Title:  AmeriCorps VISTA member    MER Consultant
Term of Service:  12 Months excluding Pubic Service Training
Salary and benefits:

  • $10,320 annually, Approximately 105% of poverty level, adjusted for cost of living in your area. Paid every 2 weeks not twice a month, directly deposited.
  • End of service award, Educational Award $4,725 voucher. Can be used to repay most federal government backed student loans and/or future schooling at qualified institutions.
  • End of service award $1200 if education award is not chosen.
  • Limited Medical benefits.

Job Description:

  • Identify Minority, Ethnic and Refugee business in target area of Historic Northeast KCMO.
  • Make formal and informal contact with the operators of these businesses.
  • Perform a survey to identify programs, meetings, services and benefits needed by these low income entrepreneurs
  • Research small business resources available in the Greater KC region that can focus and assist our target group of entrepreneurs.
  • Establish partnerships and collaborations with business resources.
  • Develop programs based upon the results of the needs assessment survey that are not covered by present programs or organizations.
  • Provide participants with result of the survey and connections to agencies and organizations offering the desired programs and services.
  • Make monthly progress reports on the project.

Qualifications:

  • Collage graduate preferred will accept 2+ years collage experience
  • 22 or older, male or female.
  • Be able to speak English and Spanish
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, good keyboarding and PC skills. Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • The ability to work with groups and on a one-to-one basis
  • The ability to provide reliable transportation to and from client locations
  • The ability to provide flexible availability during the work day.
  • Full time, no other obligations.
